Lovely travel souvenir of the city of Metz from 100 years ago. This spoon is from the estate of a Brisbane gentleman who did a grand tour of Europe and North America round 1910 to include the classic sites and world fair.
Beautiful enamel work over gilt metal with an image of a statue of a horse and rider. It has some wear here and there.
From the internet...Metz, the capital and the prefecture of both the Lorraine region and the Moselle department in France, has a recorded history dating back over 3,000 years. As an important city in the heart of Europe and the crossroads of different cultures, Metz has variously experienced an integration into the Roman Empire, the period of christianization, the barbarian depredations, religious wars, the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, an annexation into the German Empire, and World War II.
May be collected from My Mother's at Old Petrie Town on a sunday morning, delivered in the Brisbane area by arrangement, or posted.
Buyers from outside Australia are welcome, however please contact us before purchase in order to discuss shipping matters.
