SOLD This is a very interesting and tactile piece of Tiger's Eye gemstone. 
Tiger's eye (also called tiger eye) is a chatoyant (showing a band of bright lustre caused by reflection from inclusions in the stone) gemstone that is usually a metamorphic rock with a golden to red-brown colour and a silky lustre. As members of the quartz group, tiger's eye gains it's silky, lustrous appearance from the parallel intergrowth of quartz crystals and altered amphibole fibres that have mostly turned into limonite (an iron ore consisting of a mixture of hydrated iron(III) oxide-hydroxides in varying composition.) Sources of Tiger Eye include Southern Africa, India and Australia
In some parts of the world, the stone is believed to ward off the evil eye! 
This specimen weighs a whopping 800 grams and stands approximately10 cm tall. It's condition is good with a striking polished appearance as can be seen in the photos, however there is a fine hairline through the left hand side as shown in photo 2..
